Life On Lockdown

We have been on official lockdown for about two weeks now because of Covid-19 but it feels like longer. It's weird that, like I said, I don't usually go anywhere in the normal run of a week or whatever, but now that I'm advised against going anywhere, I want to go somewhere.

Mostly, I want to shop. Not that anything I might buy is an absolute necessity, I just like to wander around Walmart. I can spend literal hours inside that store and come out with three things! Our Walmart has reduced its hours. They are now open between 6 AM and 8:30 PM. Also, they have closed the General Merchandise doors (you can only enter through the Grocery doors), and limited the number of customers allowed in the store at one time. While, on the surface, this is a good idea ( designed to limit the spread of Covid-19), can you imagine driving from say, an hour away only to find out you have to wait to do your shopping because they are at capacity?

So far my family has been symptom-free. Because we are not the people who think that life on lockdown goes on just as before. People are being arrested for not following the stay-at home guidelines!

From what I have been hearing on the news, this doesn't look like its going to be over until its over, and that may be a loooong while. Its a good thing I have The Sims 3 on my computer, otherwise I would go mad.

Nothing Better To Do

Well, I guess it's time to dust off the old blog and start posting stuff again. Truth is, I'm getting bored. I do the same thing every day with very little variation in my routine. And now, right when I decide that I should change it up and maybe get out more, I can't because there is a pandemic on the loose and I'm being encouraged by authorities to "shelter in place" until such time as it is safe enough to venture forth. Which, judging from the response by the government and the way they are handling the whole Corona virus thing, could be the rest of 2020. And that, under any other circumstance, wouldn't bother me because like I said, it's a rare day that I leave my house. It's just funny to me now that I want to go someplace else other than here.

So, let me tell you what to expect to see from here on out.

1. I will probably revive Friday Felines, but I haven't been to I Can Has Cheezburger for awhile so I don't know if it will become a thing for me again.

2. I have eight grandchildren now, two of whom are under the age of four so it might be reasonable to expect to see stories and/or photos of the cuteness that is a toddler.

3. If our President (who I DID NOT vote for) does/says something that I find stomach-churning, expect to hear my opinion on whatever it is. I could barely tolerate him as a television "celebrity", so imagine how I feel about him being in the White House.

4. Randomness. You just never know what I'll do. But I'll always do it with humor, sarcasm and as much respect as the subject allows.

Off we go!

The Best Part of Wakin' Up

I woke up earlier than usual this morning because my grandkids are coming. The first thing I did was put on a pot of coffee. Only today, the coffee maker decided to stop working.

I think the element is worn out because the machine turns on and shows the time and whatnot. It just won't brew the coffee.

At first, I freaked out a little because I need my coffee. But then I remembered my daughter's coffee maker, which I switched out with mine because I like the way mine looks and, frankly, hers is ugly.

Coffee's brewing now, and all is right with my world.

Update (For Those Who Are Interested)

Where to begin?
Okay. First, two granddaughters were added to my family (one in August and one in December of 2012); then my dad died a week before Christmas in 2013; I lost my house and 90 percent of everything I own because I couldn't pay my lot rent; I bounced between three of my four children until late August of 2016, stayed with my mother for about a month before she told me to get out; and lived in a homeless shelter for three months; got one more granddaughter in November and found out in February that I'm getting another grandson.

In March of 2017 I finally got approved for SSI (after FOUR YEARS of jumping through their hoops). Now, because I have to have a representative payee (because, apparently, I am not capable of handling my finances on my own), I am back living with my oldest daughter, who is my RP. Which sucks.

She was told by SSA that I was to have NO ACCESS to the account and she had to keep receipts because EVERYTHING had to be accounted for, and of there we're any discrepancies she would have to pay for them. As a result, I don't know exactly how much money I actually have. And l feel like I'm begging when I ask her to buy me what I need.

I was told that I only need to have an RP for six months, if I can show that I am capable of managing my money. If my daughter keeps this up, it should be a cinch.

Has It Been 5 Years!?

I am so excited to be able to blog again!

Great! Now I Have A Headache, Too!

I think I am a pretty easy-going person; not much annoys me, but when it does, it really does.Take, for example, the Aleve commercials. They start out with an ordinary person going through an ordinary day, except that the day includes arthritis pain. I get that if you have pain, you're going to want something to take it away or at least make it a little more bearable.

So these commercials have the ordinary person starting their day, discovering that they have the pain, and taking up to 6 pills (read: Tylenol) to relieve said pain. I have no problem with that; I do it myself. What I do have a problem with is the slurpy noise being made when the pills are taken and washed down with coffee, water, or what-have-you. Do I really need sound effects here? Seriously, I doubt that everyone slurps like that when they drink something! And even if they do, I don't need to hear it.
