What About Me?

So, in March, Congress approved a stimulus package that would give all qualifying people a one-time payment of $1,200. I didn't think I would qualify, being that I'm on SSI. Turns out, I do qualify. So I waited. And I waited. And I waited some more. Everyone around me was getting their money, but mine never came. I Googled, just because I wanted to make sure that I did actually qualify. I looked on the Social Security website and the IRS "Where's My Payment" website. The Social Security website said if I receive SSI, I don't have to do anything; my check will be given to me however I get my SSI payment.  The "Where's My Payment?" website says:

Payment Status Not Available

We are unable to provide the status of your payment right now because:
  • We don't have enough information yet (we're working on this), or
  • You're not eligible for a payment.

This makes no sense to me, because they send me a check every month. They have enough information to make that payment, but now all of a sudden, when I could get an extra $1,200, they don't. So the only other explanation for my not getting a stimulus check must be that I don't qualify. But other people on Social Security are getting checks....

Since I found out the Social Security-related payments were slated to start going out in early May,
I started checking the "Where's My Payment?" website, and I check it at least twice a week. It continues to tell me that either they don't have enough of my information or that I don't qualify.

Now, I'm not a greedy person. And I don't really need this $1,200. But if I qualify, and everyone and their dog are getting it, I want one too, and I will wait as long as they make me wait.
